Watch: Nick Waterhouse/San Fermin Live at Brighton Music Hall

Los Angeles-based Nick Waterhouse performed music from his new album, Holly, in September 2013 at Brighton Music Hall in Allston, MA. Waterhouse also sat down with WGBH’s Edgar B. Herwick III before the show for an interview.

San Fermin performed in front of a sold-out crowd in February 2014. San Fermin is the creation of Massachusetts native, Ellis Ludwig-Leone (currently based in Brooklyn).

San Fermin released their self-titled debut record in September, 2013 to positive reviews (including making Bob Boilen’s top 20 albums of 2013). NPR called the record “one of the year’s most surprising, ambitious, evocative and moving records.”

Following graduation from Yale University where he studied music, Ludwig-Leone departed for a secluded retreat to Canada’s Banff Centre, where he wrote the music for the album. Ellis tells WGBH Music “he tried to write a song per day” while he was there, sparking a prolific 14 days which would ultimately form the building blocks for the record.
