Watch: Bombay Bicycle Club – Always Like This (Live)

October 18, 2014 – Indie Rockers, Bombay Bicycle Club, performed at House of Blues Boston. The genre-bending group, formed in 2005 out of North London, put on a high octane set that spanned their four full length albums and three EPs. The sold–out Saturday night crowd witnessed an unforgettable performance including this live rendition of “Always Like This” from their 2009 album, I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose.

Frontman, Jack Steadman, and bassist, Ed Nash, sat down with WGBH Music before the show to talk about when Jack first wrote Always Like This and the lukewarm reaction he received from a friend.

Lyrics:
Oh she can wait,
For what I can give,
She knows what I am but,
She won’t believe me,
Is it all ok?
Will I come off the lightest?
I can’t believe it,
It’s always like this,

Kept it at bay
Yes you kept your words
There on your mouth
But it’s not what I heard

If I follow the light
That I deem the brightest
I won’t believe that
It’s always like this

I’m not whole
I’m not whole
You waste it all

I’m not whole
I’m not whole
You waste it all

I’m not whole

Oh you can wait
For what I can give
You know what I am
So you know how I live
Try to look proud
But you’re not in the slightest
Its happening now
And it’s always been like this

I’m not whole
I’m not whole
You waste it all

I’m not whole
I’m not whole
You waste it all

I’m not whole
